Updated January 14, 2026

Viraly’s built-in image editor lets you crop, filter, adjust, annotate, and enhance images for each social media platform. Get the perfect look for every post without needing external tools.

Opening the Image Editor

To edit an image in your post:

  1. Add an image to your post using the Upload button or drag-and-drop
  2. Click on the image thumbnail
  3. Select Edit or click the pencil icon
  4. The image editor opens with your image ready to edit

The editor displays your image in the center with editing tools in the left sidebar. Click Save Changes when you’re done.

Crop

The Crop tool lets you resize and reframe your image for different platforms.

Transform Options

The top toolbar provides quick transform actions:

  • Rotate left — Rotate the image 90° counter-clockwise
  • Rotate right — Rotate the image 90° clockwise
  • Flip horizontal — Mirror the image horizontally
  • Flip vertical — Mirror the image vertically
  • Crop for [Platform] — Quick access to platform-specific aspect ratios

Fine Rotation and Scale

At the bottom of the crop view:

  • Rotation — Use the slider to fine-tune rotation angle (useful for straightening horizons)
  • Scale — Zoom in or out within the crop area

Drag the crop handles to adjust the crop area, or use the platform presets for optimal aspect ratios.

Filter

Apply pre-made filters to change the overall look and feel of your image. Available filters include:

Filter Effect
Default Original image with no filter
Chrome Cool, slightly desaturated with enhanced contrast
Fade Soft, faded look with lifted blacks
Cold Cool blue tones
Warm Warm orange/yellow tones
Pastel Soft, muted colors
Mono Black and white
Noir High contrast black and white
Stark High contrast with desaturated colors
Wash Soft, washed-out appearance

Use the intensity slider (shown as a percentage) to control how strongly the filter is applied.

Finetune

Make precise adjustments to your image with these controls:

Adjustment What It Does
Brightness Make the image lighter or darker overall
Contrast Increase or decrease the difference between light and dark areas
Saturation Adjust color intensity (lower = more gray, higher = more vivid)
Exposure Simulate camera exposure adjustments
Temperature Shift colors warmer (yellow/orange) or cooler (blue)
Gamma Adjust midtone brightness
Clarity Enhance or reduce local contrast for a sharper or softer look
Vignette Add darkening around the edges of the image

Each adjustment has a slider. Move left to decrease, right to increase. The center position (0) is the original value.

Annotate

Draw and add shapes directly on your image. Annotation tools include:

Tool Description
Sharpie Freehand drawing tool for sketching or highlighting
Eraser Remove annotations you’ve drawn

  • Line width — Select Small, Medium, or Large stroke width

Decorate

The Decorate tab provides the same drawing tools as Annotate (Sharpie, Eraser, Path, Line, Arrow, Rectangle, Ellipse, Text) with identical color and width options. Use this for adding decorative elements to your images.

  1. Click the Sticker tab
  2. Browse the available emoji stickers
  3. Click a sticker to add it to your image
  4. Drag to position the sticker where you want it

Redact

Use the Redact tool to blur or black out sensitive information in your images:

  1. Click the Redact tab
  2. Click and drag over areas you want to hide
  3. The selected area will be blurred or obscured

This is useful for hiding personal information, phone numbers, email addresses, or other sensitive content in screenshots.

Resize

Change the dimensions of your image:

  1. Click the Resize tab
  2. Enter your desired Width and Height in pixels
  3. Toggle the lock icon to maintain or unlock the aspect ratio

  • Use platform presets: The built-in presets ensure your images display correctly on each platform
  • Don’t over-filter: Subtle adjustments often look more professional than heavy filters
  • Check the preview: Always preview your post to see how the image will appear
  • Crop per platform: When posting to multiple platforms, create different crops for each one
  • Use Redact for screenshots: Always blur sensitive information before posting
