Drafts let you save posts without publishing or scheduling them. Use drafts to work on content over time, save ideas for later, or prepare posts that need approval before scheduling.
Saving a Draft
To save a post as a draft:
- Create your post content in the composer
- Click the three-dot menu (more options) next to the Schedule button
- Select Save as Draft (DocumentTextIcon)
- Your post is saved and the composer closes

Without Publish Permission
If you don’t have permission to publish posts, Save as Draft appears as a primary button instead of being in the dropdown menu. This ensures you can always save your work.
Finding Your Drafts
Drafts appear in the Calendar view alongside your scheduled posts. They’re visually distinct with gray/slate coloring and a document icon.
Using the Status Filter
- Open the Calendar view
- Click the Filters panel
- Under Status, check Draft
- Only draft posts are now displayed

Visual Identification
Draft posts are styled differently from scheduled posts:
- Background: Slate gray (bg-slate-100 in light mode, bg-gray-700 in dark mode)
- Icon: DocumentTextIcon indicates draft status
- No time: Unlike scheduled posts, drafts don’t show a scheduled time
Editing Drafts
To edit a draft post:
- Find the draft in your Calendar
- Click on the draft tile or click Edit
- The post composer opens with all your saved content
- Make your changes
- Choose to save as draft again, schedule, or publish
All content, media attachments, and settings are preserved when you edit a draft.
Converting Drafts to Scheduled Posts
When you’re ready to publish a draft, you have two options:
Method 1: Quick Schedule
- Find the draft in your Calendar
- Click the Schedule Post button on the draft tile
- Select a future date and time
- Confirm to schedule
Method 2: Edit and Schedule
- Click Edit on the draft
- Review and modify content if needed
- Select a date and time using the date picker
- Click Schedule Post
Once scheduled, the post status changes from “Draft” to “Scheduled” and appears at its scheduled time in the calendar.
About Auto-Save
Viraly does not automatically save drafts. All saving is manual via the Save as Draft option. If you close the composer without saving:
- A warning dialog appears: “Sure you want to leave?”
- Confirming will discard your unsaved changes
- Cancel to return to the composer and save your work
Tip: Save your work frequently as a draft to avoid losing content, especially for longer posts.
