The Queue feature lets you add posts without manually selecting a date and time. When you add a post to your queue, Viraly automatically assigns it to your next available posting slot, making it easy to maintain a consistent posting schedule.
Using Add to Queue
To add a post to your queue:
- Create your post content in the composer
- Click the dropdown arrow next to the Schedule Post button
- Select Add to Queue (plus icon)
- Your post is assigned to the next available time slot

Queue Warning Indicator
If any of your selected channels don’t have posting slots configured, you’ll see a yellow warning icon (ExclamationCircleIcon) next to the Add to Queue option. Hovering over this icon shows which profiles are affected:
“The following profile(s) have no posting slots configured, so Posts added to their queue will be saved as Drafts: [profile names]”
How Queue Slots Work
Queue slots are predefined times when your queued posts will be published. Each slot has a day of the week (Monday through Sunday) and a specific time.
Slot Assignment
When you add a post to the queue, Viraly:
- Looks at your configured slots for the next 30 days
- Filters out any slots that are already in the past
- Finds the first available slot not already filled
- Assigns your post to that slot
Posts fill slots in FIFO (first-in, first-out) order—the first post added gets the earliest available slot.
For detailed instructions on setting up slots, see Setting Up Time Slots for Automatic Scheduling.
When No Slots Are Configured
If you try to add a post to the queue for a channel without configured slots:
- The post is saved as a Draft instead of queued
- You’ll see a warning on the queue page
Queue Page Warning
When viewing the queue for a channel without slots, you’ll see a yellow alert box:
- Title: “No Posting Slots Configured”
- Message: “No posting slots have been configured…”
- Action: “Configure Posting Slots” link
Queue vs Schedule
| Feature | Add to Queue | Schedule |
|---|---|---|
| Time Selection | Automatic (next slot) | Manual (date picker) |
| Requires Slots | Yes | No |
| Best For | Consistent posting cadence | Specific timing needs |
| Workflow | FIFO auto-publish | Direct at chosen time |
| No Slots Behavior | Saved as Draft | Works normally |
