Connect your Bluesky profile to Viraly to schedule posts and manage your presence on the decentralized social network. Bluesky uses app passwords for secure third-party access.
Before You Begin
To connect your Bluesky profile to Viraly, you will need:
- A Bluesky account
- Your Bluesky handle (e.g.,
yourname.bsky.social) - An app password (created in Step 1)
Important: Bluesky requires an app password for third-party connections. You cannot use your regular Bluesky password. App passwords provide secure access without exposing your main account credentials.
Step 1: Create an App Password
First, generate an app password in your Bluesky settings:
- Go to bsky.app/settings/app-passwords (or open Bluesky → Settings → App Passwords)
- Click Add App Password
- Enter a name for this password (e.g., “Viraly”)
- Click Create App Password
- Copy the generated password (format:
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx)


Important: Save this password somewhere safe. Bluesky will only show it once. If you lose it, you will need to create a new one.
Step 2: Connect to Viraly
Now connect your Bluesky profile to Viraly:
Open the Connection Dialog
- From your Viraly dashboard, navigate to My Social Sets in the top-right user dropdown menu. Click on the social set where you want to add your Bluesky account, or create a new social set.

- Click the + New Social Profile button and select Bluesky from the list of available platforms.

Enter Your Credentials
- Enter your Bluesky Handle (e.g.,
yourname.bsky.socialor justyourname) - Enter your App Password (the one you created in Step 1)
- Click Connect

Handle Tips:
- You can enter just your username (e.g.,
yourname) and Viraly will automatically complete it toyourname.bsky.social - If you have a custom domain handle, enter the full handle (e.g.,
you.yourdomain.com) - The
@symbol is optional
Connection Complete
- Once connected, your Bluesky profile will appear in your social profiles list
- You can now schedule posts to your Bluesky account

Troubleshooting
“Unable to resolve handle” Error
This error means the handle or app password is incorrect. Check that:
- Your handle is spelled correctly
- You are using an app password, not your regular Bluesky password
- The app password hasn’t been revoked in your Bluesky settings
Invalid App Password Format
App passwords must be in the format xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx (four groups of four characters separated by dashes). Make sure you copied the entire password from Bluesky.
Need to Reconnect
If you need to reconnect your Bluesky profile (e.g., after revoking the app password):
- Create a new app password in Bluesky settings
- In Viraly, click on your Bluesky profile
- Click Reconnect
- Enter your handle and the new app password
