Using the AI Image Generator

Updated April 22, 2026

Viraly’s AI Image Generator creates on-brand post visuals straight from a text prompt. Each image is auto-sized to the platform you’re composing for—Instagram Feed, TikTok Vertical, LinkedIn Feed, Pinterest Standard Pin, and more—so the image fits your post without black bars or awkward cropping.

Opening the AI Image Generator

To generate an AI image for your post:

  1. Create or edit a post.
  2. In the caption area, click the AI Image chip (purple, sparkles icon). It sits right next to the AI Generator chip used for captions.
  3. Describe the image you want in the prompt field.
  4. Pick an aspect ratio, choose Standard or HD quality, then click Generate.
  5. When the preview appears, click Use in post to attach it, or Regenerate to try again.

Platform Aspect Ratios

The aspect-ratio options change based on the channel you’re composing for. The modal shows a subtle “Showing [Platform] aspect ratios” label above the buttons—click it to switch to a different platform’s presets.

  • Instagram: Feed (1:1), Feed portrait (4:5), Story/Reel (9:16)
  • Facebook: Feed (1.91:1), Square (1:1), Story (9:16)
  • TikTok: Vertical (9:16), Square (1:1), Landscape (16:9)
  • YouTube: Video (16:9), Short (9:16), Square (1:1)
  • X (Twitter): Wide (16:9), Square (1:1), Portrait (9:16)
  • LinkedIn: Feed (1.91:1), Square (1:1), Portrait (4:5)
  • Pinterest: Standard pin (2:3), Square pin (1:1), Wide pin (16:9)
  • Threads, Mastodon, Bluesky, Google Business: platform-native defaults with the same three-option layout.

The image is auto-cropped to the exact aspect ratio you choose, so it fits every platform’s native display without black bars or unexpected cropping on upload.

Standard vs HD Quality

  • Standard: faster, uses fewer credits. Good for most posts. Available on Influencer and above.
  • HD: slower but finer details and more consistent results. Available on Business and above.

Using Your Brand Palette

If your workspace has a primary brand color configured (Settings › White label), the modal shows a Use my brand palette checkbox. When enabled, the generator favors your brand color in the image where it reads naturally.

Using the Generated Image

Once the image is ready:

  • Use in post: attaches the image to the post you’re composing and closes the modal. From there it behaves exactly like an uploaded image—you can reorder, add alt text, or swap it out.
  • Regenerate: runs the same prompt again for a different take.
  • Cancel: closes the modal. Generated previews are discarded if you don’t use them.

Every generated image is saved to your Media Library, so you can reuse it in future posts without regenerating.

Monthly Limits by Plan

  • Free: AI image generation is not included.
  • Influencer: 20 images per month, Standard quality.
  • Business: 100 images per month, Standard or HD.
  • Agency: 500 images per month, Standard or HD.
  • Enterprise: unlimited, Standard or HD.

The counter resets on the first of each calendar month (UTC).

Tips for Better Results

  • Be specific about the subject: “a flat-lay of a ceramic coffee cup beside a laptop on a light wooden desk, morning light” beats “coffee cup”.
  • Describe the mood and style: minimalist, cinematic, warm pastel, high-contrast black and white—style words shape the output more than you’d think.
  • Match the platform: what works on Pinterest (tall, text-light, decorative) isn’t what works on LinkedIn (wide, professional). Pick the platform preset first, then write the prompt with that format in mind.
  • Avoid real brand names and celebrity likenesses: the generator refuses these for legal reasons. Describe the vibe instead.
  • Regenerate a few times: each run is different. If the first result is close but not quite right, click Regenerate rather than rewriting the prompt.
